Open Source Gaming Project

About DroidDeck

Empowering mobile gamers and handheld enthusiasts with authentic PC gaming on Android hardware.

Our Mission

Dedicated gaming handhelds powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processors (such as the Ayn Odin 2, Retroid Pocket 5, and Ayaneo Pocket S) possess immense graphical power with active cooling. However, their software has historically been constrained to mobile Android titles and retro console emulation.

DroidDeck was created to bridge this gap. By porting the gamescope compositor and orchestrating Valve's native Linux ARM64 Steam client alongside ARM64 Proton, DroidDeck transforms your Android device into a true portable PC gaming console.

Open Source Heritage & Credits

DroidDeck stands upon the shoulders of remarkable open-source pioneers. Runtime, shim, input, and controller architectures build directly upon:

  • WinNative & Bannerlator (by maxjivi05) for pioneering Android Linux compositing and PulseAudio packaging.
  • Valve Corporation for the groundbreaking Proton compatibility layer and native ARM64 Steam client packages.
  • FEX-Emu & Box64 for high-performance x86/x64 instruction set translation on ARM64 processors.
  • Turnip & Mesa 3D Project for the open-source Vulkan driver that unlocks Qualcomm Adreno GPU hardware.

DroidDeck is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 (GPL-3.0). The source code is fully public, transparent, and auditable on GitHub.

Privacy & Ethics First

DroidDeck does not harvest user data, collect account credentials, or run hidden background trackers. All authentication happens directly inside Valve's official Steam client using official Steam authentication endpoints. No Valve proprietary files are redistributed in the DroidDeck APK; all client assets are fetched on-device from Valve's official manifests.
