Can You Run GTA V on Android? DroidDeck Performance, Settings & Benchmarks

By DroidDeck Engineering •

*"Can it run GTA V?"* is the quintessential benchmark query for every gaming handheld and mobile emulation community. For years, mobile gamers were forced to rely on low-resolution cloud streaming or experimental Windows emulators like Winlator that required complex wrapper patches.

With DroidDeck, running the official Steam PC release of *Grand Theft Auto V* natively on Android hardware is technically possible. But what kind of framerates can you realistically expect on Qualcomm Snapdragon processors?

We tested *Grand Theft Auto V* (Single Player Story Mode) across multiple Snapdragon chipsets under DroidDeck. Here are the unfiltered benchmark results, optimal settings, and current technical limits.

The Hardware Reality: What Does GTA V Require?

Rockstar's RAGE engine relies heavily on:

  • DirectX 11 rendering pipeline (translated to Vulkan via DXVK).

  • Instruction set translation: Thousands of dense x86_64 CPU instructions translated to ARM64 by FEX-Emu.

  • RAM requirements: GTA V requires at least 4 GB of dedicated video RAM and 6 GB of system RAM. On Android, this unified memory must fit comfortably in the device's physical RAM.
  • Important
To run GTA V on DroidDeck, your Android device must have at least 12 GB or 16 GB of physical RAM. Devices with 8 GB of RAM will experience memory pressure kills from the Android low-memory killer (LMK).

Benchmark Results: Story Mode across Snapdragon Chips

All tests conducted using Story Mode in Los Santos (driving down Vinewood Boulevard and flying over the city at 720p resolution):

To maintain a stable 30 to 45 FPS in the city without thermal throttling:

  • DirectX Version: DirectX 11 (DXVK provides better Vulkan translation than DX10).

  • Screen Resolution: 1280x720 (use DroidDeck gamescope integer scaling).

  • FXAA: On

  • MSAA: Off (Crucial: MSAA cuts framerates in half on mobile GPUs).

  • Texture Quality: Normal

  • Shader Quality: Normal

  • Shadow Quality: Normal

  • Reflection Quality: Normal

  • Grass Quality: Normal (High grass density severely taxes the CPU translation layer).

  • Population Density & Variety: 50%

    Does GTA Online Work?

    Notice
GTA Online does NOT work on DroidDeck. Rockstar Games recently integrated BattlEye anti-cheat for GTA Online PC. Kernel-level Windows anti-cheat drivers cannot execute inside user-space Linux sandboxes like proot. However, GTA V's complete Single-Player Story Mode runs offline flawlessly!
